Even TVs have IP connections for accessing content stored on a local home network and the internet. Not all devices have built-in Wi-Fi, and even those that do have limited performance to access HD content or play online games. The Problem with Wi-Fi While Wi-Fi may be acceptable for email and browsing, it lacks the speed and consistency to move large amounts of data used by HD content and games. Even with the latest version of Wi-Fi available (802.11n) the data can be limited by walls and floors in your home, and can be interrupted by outside RF interference from other devices in the home. Combine that with the added complications of setting up Wi-Fi networks and and the use of it as a solution becomes less appealing. For a consistent experience there is no better  method than a wired connection to the router and internet. With a wired connection, you are guaranteed the fastest speeds without interruption by other devices or the limitations of transmitting through walls and floors. The Problem with Adding Wires to Your Home Installing wires in your home can be a messy, time-consuming, and costly experience. Unless your home is gutted, adding Ethernet wiring to your home can be a huge inconvenience to your enjoyment of your Ethernet devices. First, run a standard Ethernet cable from your router to one of the PowerNet modules. Next, plug the PowerNet module into a nearby electrical outlet. NOTE: If your PowerNet module is not providing a connection, make sure that 1) the two outlets are on the same circuit breaker (not a problem in most homes) and 2) that you have turned your router off and back on. CHAVEZ I loved my network-able Blue-ray player I purchased, but I hated the wireless adapter which left me always praying my Netflix or U-tube content would actually play. Same with my networkable TV, I'd always lose the radio or the news. My PS3 online gaming was a joke wirelessly. I dreaded running a network cable from my livingroom into my bedroom. Such a downer for such great products. However, I found this little device and AMAZINGLY everything works flawlessly! It's literally plug and play. High-speed networking that's virtually wireless!!! You need one on your router end to plug "wire" a Cat5/ethernet cable into and one for wherever you want to have a "wired" connection for your equipment. You use a Cat5/ethernet cable to "wire" your components into the Monster PowerNet which is plugged into the wall. No cables between rooms, only between your router to PowerNet which plugs into the outlet and one from your components to the PowerNet 200 or 300. You may have to reset your components from wireless to wired, but after that, it just works! NO more jagged netflix, waiting for info to load, missed songs or slow online gaming. It actually downloads the best quality off netflix. I'm really happy with this. I'm used to wiring and setting up computers, home theatre, and complicated set-ups. I was really amazed at how easy it was. Good luck and buy it! It really is worth it if you use networkable products, or even if you have a wireless deadspot in your home. I'm glad I found this because it's much cheaper than running network cables through my home which was going to run me ($3,000-$4,500). BTW the difference between the PowerNet 300 and PowerNet 200 is the PowerNet 300 allows for more than one component (4 ethernet ports) in a room. The PowerNet 200 has only one ethernet connection. The PowerNet 200 & 300 also gives you some surge protection & line conditioning (clean power filtering) which erases some of the "buzz/noise" or interference in your walls to give a faster connection. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Hard device to keep in sync By Marcellus Perkins Sr. I purchased 3 of the powernet 300's, thinking I would have the answer to all my streaming problems because I really like streaming in HDX. The "orange" light keeps coming on after I have meticulously and sucessfully paired them together. The orange light indicates substandard signal. Yet, when I wire directly from my Clear modem the speed is consistly between 6MBS -10MBS. Somewhere, the signal keeps dropping. These devices are tedious to keep in sync. When you call for support, be prepared to stay online from 30 minutes to an hour just to speak to a representative. It is almost impossible to figure if you have a faulty box or just not configuring your system correctly. For all the difficulty these boxes should be half the price. Maybe then, I wouldn't be so disappointed by all the time I have to put in just to get them to function correctly. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. First I got two PowerNet 300s and connected one to the router and one to the second TV, the one farthest away from the router. That worked quite well. Then I realized the signal was not sufficient to connect the TV on the same floor as the router. So, I ended up ordering a third PowerNet for that TV. Now it all works like a charm. Any comments on the good prices are now obsolete. I think the good price was just a mistake and my good fortune at the time. If you see it for $ 45.59, which is purchased, it is a large, upward pressure. But with the current price of $ 199.99, I have to remove some of my stars. You would be better to buy a model that costs about $ 100. Since this product is approximately half the price of other Ethernet adapters that have fewer resources, not sure what to expect from this product. However, had the name of Monster (again, it seems very strange that the monsters that the most expensive brand category), so I thought I'd give it a try. So far, so good. Although I think the design is ugly, not most of the time, even going to see these, who cares. The important thing is that it works and works well! It is really a kit from start-up not only with both devices, but two Ethernet cables to connect the cables that come with them are a bit "short, but you can buy them for something like a power anyway , so again, no big deal. Insert a device into an electrical outlet near your router, the Ethernet cable to connect the unit, then take the other and end near the X-box 360 or Blu-ray (these the two units I tested at home) and you're done. The lights begin to flash and sync without additional effort on your part. Another positive aspect is the plug does not have the annoying one more branch on the ground so you can plug them in upside down if space is tight on your wall outlet. While I was playing video games over the connection, I have not noticed any slowdown or drop out. I've only had it about a month, but since I was considering spending double the money, I am very pleased I found this device for this price It is cheaper than the X-box 360's own wireless adapter and you can use it on any device you choose. Confronted with problematic Wi-Fi coverage to the top where we keep the X-Box, I got the Powernet 100 (not necessarily the surge protector, saved a few dollars). The two units were plugged in to (the right lighting lights) are synchronized, then I plugged in the first unit with the cable router and the second unit up to the X-Box, and BAM it worked. Quite a treat after the 3 or 4 hours I spent with my messed expand airports and try to optimize the wireless network. So everything worked great until this afternoon, when the X-box said it was no longer connected to the network. A trip to the Monster site was the disappointment, it was frustrating. There are no forums, no FAQ PowerNet product line, and it's easy to find under the support section of the documentation I had to go to Google to find a PDF of the instructions --.
