Cons: No instructions/documentation of any kind for the mounting kit or antenna. Notes: The connector is perpendicular to the antenna, not parallel. I would say I would need the signal to reach about 600 ft if that and it was not working. I got three bars but every once in a while it would just stop working. This thing is also huge. I just had to find a small enough screw driver for the screws on the bottom of the Macbook, and the Mac user guide actually covers the steps for RAM replacement for anyone who might not be familiar with cracking open their laptop. What I like best is that I don't notice any loss of signal quality when using the Coax filter. I have noticed this with other coax filters. The color coded and labelled outlets also are handy when moving/adding equipment. This way you know exactly what you are unplugging. A couple things I didn't like about the powercenter is that it is only rated at 15amps (~1800 watts). So if you have a 20amp circuit for your hometheater you are not able to draw all the power you could. This is probably not a big deal unless you have a lot of equipment and are running it all from the powercenter. Another item to watch for it that the coax input/output connectors have a tendency to loosen up. Then when I move the powercenter my sub woofer thumps loudly. Like it is shorting out internally. This is easy fixed or avoided by tightening the coax fittings. Lastly this unit will not take care of ground loop hums that can occur from improperly grounded cable feeds. 54 of 59 people found the following review helpful. Did not protect, warranty is rediculous. By Derek D. Pedersen I purchased this to protect a lot of my expensive equipment. When my apartment was struck by lightning, the power supply failed to protect most of the components. I lost my computer, Yamaha receiver, Nintendo Wii, Wireless router, and HP printer. I figured I could call upon the warranty to get my stuff fixed, but the monster claim process is worse than most insurance companies. Fill out 3 pages, draw out a diagram, send all your equipment to certified manufacturer repair shop, wait for all the quotes, send them to monster, and then wait 4 weeks for a response. I am still waiting to get my stuff fixed. I guess I could deal with this if i new the chances were really low because the surge protector would actually work... I would not recommend this at all. 23 of 23 people found the following review helpful. Not worth the money By DC I was given one of these as a gift a little over a year ago. Today it decided to die in the same way a couple of other reviewers note, but I'm not convinced it was due to a surge. The unit still works for a short time before it overheats and shuts the outlets off, and you can't actually turn the thing off, as the rocker switch isn't working (no click, no off, and no alarm). I also had two Isobar units plugged in to this line and they are fine, registering no issue. Seems that the HT800 is no better than the HT700 was, which is to say the units are garbage. Monster MP HFTS-IW HC In Wall PowerCenter By Paul Sacks I needed a power surge protector that would fit behind my LCD wall mounted television set. There is only about 1.5 inches clearance between the wall and the television set and I didn't want any exposed wires. This device is not available in any stores (Home Depot/ Fry's Electronics/ 2 different electrical supply stores etc) but I found just what I needed on Amazon! It works great. It took about two hours to install but I am a homeowner, not a contractor. Could probably do the 2nd one in 30 minutes now that I know what I am doing. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Looks good, hope it works By Larry The Monster MP HTFS-IW HC In Wall Power Center was a logical choice for my new Sharp LCD TV. I mounted the PowerCenter on the wall and used an optional (did not come with) HDMI in-wall dual outlet in place of the provided coax connectors plate. I had some installation issues that need to be pointed out. The wires for the power center are three stranded and three solid wires. The instructions say to connect the line power in to the solid wires and connect the stranded wires to the duplex outlet with ring terminals. A label on the unit says to connect the other way. The duplex outlet included is not the Decora style rectangular design as shown, it is a common round duplex outlet. A plastic cover is included to fit over the outlet to make it look like a Decora outlet. The enclosed offset power cable is nice, but it does not work on my TV. It appears to be made for A/V or computer power connection. Once the installation is complete, the setup is slick and looks good. The status leds can be switched on/off. I have my 40" LCDTV plugged into it now and it appears to be working beautifully. I'll know soon enough with the spring storm season upon us. It is covered by a 2-year warranty, plus up to $250,000 maximum coverage on connected equipment for 2 years. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Awesome! CHAVEZ I loved my network-able Blue-ray player I purchased, but I hated the wireless adapter which left me always praying my Netflix or U-tube content would actually play. Same with my networkable TV, I'd always lose the radio or the news. My PS3 online gaming was a joke wirelessly. I dreaded running a network cable from my livingroom into my bedroom. Such a downer for such great products. However, I found this little device and AMAZINGLY everything works flawlessly! It's literally plug and play. High-speed networking that's virtually wireless!!! You need one on your router end to plug "wire" a Cat5/ethernet cable into and one for wherever you want to have a "wired" connection for your equipment. You use a Cat5/ethernet cable to "wire" your components into the Monster PowerNet which is plugged into the wall. No cables between rooms, only between your router to PowerNet which plugs into the outlet and one from your components to the PowerNet 200 or 300. You may have to reset your components from wireless to wired, but after that, it just works! NO more jagged netflix, waiting for info to load, missed songs or slow online gaming. It actually downloads the best quality off netflix. I'm really happy with this. I'm used to wiring and setting up computers, home theatre, and complicated set-ups. I was really amazed at how easy it was. Good luck and buy it! It really is worth it if you use networkable products, or even if you have a wireless deadspot in your home. I'm glad I found this because it's much cheaper than running network cables through my home which was going to run me ($3,000-$4,500). Hard device to keep in sync By Marcellus Perkins Sr. I purchased 3 of the powernet 300's, thinking I would have the answer to all my streaming problems because I really like streaming in HDX. The "orange" light keeps coming on after I have meticulously and sucessfully paired them together. The orange light indicates substandard signal. Yet, when I wire directly from my Clear modem the speed is consistly between 6MBS -10MBS. Somewhere, the signal keeps dropping. These devices are tedious to keep in sync. When you call for support, be prepared to stay online from 30 minutes to an hour just to speak to a representative. It is almost impossible to figure if you have a faulty box or just not configuring your system correctly. For all the difficulty these boxes should be half the price. First I got two PowerNet 300s and connected one to the router and one to the second TV, the one farthest away from the router. That worked quite well. Then I realized the signal was not sufficient to connect the TV on the same floor as the router. So, I ended up ordering a third PowerNet for that TV. Now it all works like a charm.
