PowerNet: Ethernet Anywhere What is PowerNet? PowerNet is Monster’s innovation in powerline networking technology. Part network adapter, part line conditioner, PowerNet lets network traffic and internet flow through the standard electrical outlets in your home. PowerNet 100 PowerNet 200 PowerNet 300 Ethernet ports 1 1 3 (4 total) Transfer Rate Up to 200 Mbps Up to 200 Mbps Up to 200 Mbps AC Outlets 2 2 Grounded Plug Clean Power Surge Protection Removeable Cord      Rotating Plug Use for Websurfing, email, and other light tasks Streaming video or playing games with a single device Connecting multiple internet components The Connected Home Today's home is full of devices that require connection to the internet and to each other, going beyond the capabilities of devices such as AV recievers. Even TVs have IP connections for accessing content stored on a local home network and the internet. Not all devices have built-in Wi-Fi, and even those that do have limited performance to access HD content or play online games. The Problem with Wi-Fi While Wi-Fi may be acceptable for email and browsing, it lacks the speed and consistency to move large amounts of data used by HD content and games. Even with the latest version of Wi-Fi available (802.11n) the data can be limited by walls and floors in your home, and can be interrupted by outside RF interference from other devices in the home. Combine that with the added complications of setting up Wi-Fi networks and and the use of it as a solution becomes less appealing. For a consistent experience there is no better  method than a wired connection to the router and internet. With a wired connection, you are guaranteed the fastest speeds without interruption by other devices or the limitations of transmitting through walls and floors. The Problem with Adding Wires to Your Home Installing wires in your home can be a messy, time-consuming, and costly experience. Unless your home is gutted, adding Ethernet wiring to your home can be a huge inconvenience to your enjoyment of your Ethernet devices. Additionally, many condo, co-op and home associations prohibit this type of installation. You want your ethernet to work immediately and function at the highest speed possible. The Solution: Monster PowerNet Every PowerNet module works on Home Plug AV Power Line Carrier (PLC) technology that utilizes the exisiting electrical wiring in your home to send and receive Ethernet signals between your devices. With speeds up to 200Mpbs, Monster PowerNet is the perfect solution to connect all of your Ethernet devices quickly, easily, and in a cost-effective manner. Anywhere there is an outlet in your home, you have an Ethernet connection. PLC does not provide the speeds of a direct connection to a router; however, Monster PowerNet performs at 200 Mbps, faster than any Wi-Fi connection. Monster PowerNet Advantage Unlike any other PLC Ethernet modules, PowerNet 200 and 300 modules provide features such as an AC plug (no loss of an outlet on your wall), and with PLC Clean Power filtering to reduce noise and interference on your electrical lines caused by appliances and other electronics. This not only improves network speed, it lets PowerNet work where other power line communication products won't. The PowerNet 300 even has 3 additional Ethernet connections allowing for 1 module to be used for multiple devices. With all these features, Monster PowerNet is the best solution available for distributing Ethernet throughout your home. How to Set it Up Setting up PowerNet is as simple as it gets. First, run a standard Ethernet cable from your router to one of the PowerNet modules. Next, plug the PowerNet module into a nearby electrical outlet. Repeat these steps for the device you want to get a network connection to and you should be in business. No passwords. No confusing set up. NOTE: If your PowerNet module is not providing a connection, make sure that 1) the two outlets are on the same circuit breaker (not a problem in most homes) and 2) that you have turned your router off and back on. Caldwell With my new Samsung Blueray, I can not just pop in a Blueray disc, but my model of Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, download and play Blockbuster and through wireless connection. The problem was that my router is upstairs at one end of the house and Blueray is low, on the other end of the house, about 60 feet + away, and even a Linksys WRT610N sending a sufficient signal to better than one success rate of 10% at discharge. Most of the times, huffing and puffing only, then the waiting time. Solution: Monster Powernet 200 that sends the signal through your electrical wiring. It requires two pieces of equipment to begin with - why is it called a starter kit. Just plug into a wall outlet and connect your PC to an Ethernet cable from the router Powernet. Plug the other Powernet equipment into an outlet on your blueray, and connect an Ethernet cable to your blueray player So you go into the settings for your blueray and change the connection from wireless to wired. Now the movie is downloading in about 10 seconds. Another plus point is now that the first two units are installed, I can give additional shares in another room in the house where I add an Ethernet-ready TV. My only slight caveat is that Powernet unity of the two slots in a typical wall socket, then offset by an outlet on both sides of the device, but not all plugs can fit into them because of the angle connector types. 9 out of 9 people found the following review helpful. High-speed wireless network is a bit wired speeds of O. Chavez, I loved my network-compatible Blu-ray player, I have bought, but I hated the wireless adapter, which I always ask my Netflix or U-tube contents clean actually left the game. Same with my network-enabled TV, I'd always lose the radio or news. PS3 online gaming was a joke I was afraid of a wireless network cable running from my living room to my bedroom. Such a setback for such good products. But I found this little device and amazingly everything works flawlessly! It is literally plug and play. High-speed network that is as good as wireless! You need a router at the end to "wire" a Cat5/ethernet cable and you want a "wired" connection to plug your equipment. You use a Cat5/ethernet-kabel to "wire" your components in Monster PowerNet connected to an electrical outlet. No cables between the rooms, only between the router to the PowerNet which connects to the outlet and one of your components to 200 or 300th PowerNet may need to reset your components from wireless to wired, but then, it just works ! No more jagged Netflix, waiting for information to load, missed or slow songs online. The download is actually the best of Netflix. I'm really happy. I'm used to the wiring and installation of computers, home theater, and complicated set-ups I was really surprised how easy it was. Good luck and buy! Is it really worth it if your products in a network, or even if you have a dead spot in your home wirelessly. I'm glad I found this because it is much cheaper than the network cable through my house, I wanted to run ($ 3,000 - $ 4,500). BTW the difference between 300 and 200, the PowerNet PowerNet PowerNet 300 allows more than one component (4 ethernet ports) on the fourth. The PowerNet 200 has only one Ethernet connection. The PowerNet 200 and 300 also gives you a number of surge protection and line conditioning (filtering clean energy), which deletes some of the "buzz / noise" or interference in their walls to provide a faster connection. 6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. Works as advertised by Launchpad worked out of the box, no complicated setup. Worked OK for two different power bands, but received slightly better results with directly into the outlet, and from the power strip
